From a Gen-you-wine Windows Guru

Anyone unhappy with Vista?

“I could go on and on about the lack of drivers, the bizarre wake-up rituals, the strange and nonreproducible system quirks, and more. But I won’t bore you with the details. The upshot is that even after nine months, Vista just ain’t cutting it. I definitely gave Microsoft too much of a free pass on this operating system: I expected it to get the kinks worked out more quickly. Boy, was I fooled! If Microsoft can’t get Vista working, I might just do the unthinkable: I might move to Linux.”

Jim Louderback, outgoing editor of PC Magazine.

I’ve read horror stories about Vista. While my computer is “vista ready”, I’m not ready for Vista. I’ll stick with what I have.

Out of all of the products that Microsoft has released, I’d say that Vista ranks right up there with “Bob” for customer satisfaction.

And I’m a former Microsoft SDE. :)

I actually held off XP for some time and only had two computers with it installed at my peak usage of the OS. Still have one with XP, but I found Win2K much more usable–and still use it regularly. More and more I’ve found myself using one of several different Linux distros or PC-BSD more and more in preference to Microsoft products. Oh, I’ll continue to use Windows (need to familiarity to help folks who use it) and will probably even finally install Vista on a computer–yet to be assembled–sometime this year.

Along toward the end of the year, most likely. Probably. Maybe. *heh*
